I Agree with the fact that the suffering is making you a better stronger person, because happiness and suffering are complementary, but what i cannot understand is this matter: if god loves us and gave us the gift of this life here on this earth,in order to reach him into the eternal life we must suffer. How can God love us if he want us to suffer in this life?
Of course God loves us. This is a question that philosophers like C.S. Lewis have answered well. Here is a link you should check out: https://conspiracyclothes.com/nowheretorun/test/
Suffering is a big part of the Christian Life.
In fact I wonder at times have I grown in any Spiritually outside of times of suffering. Hebrews 12:6 says
”For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.”
A scourge was what was used to remove the flesh and expose the bone. God’s purpose is much larger than we tend think about, He has eternity in mind.
We are supposed to be being conformed to the image of Christ. This involves the breaking of the outer man and the release of the inner man. If He loves us then He will chasten and scourge us.
Watchman Nee’s book ‘The breaking of the outer man and the release of the Spirit’ really helped me in embracing times of suffering.
If God is soveign which He is then He allows us to suffer.
He has a purpose in all things bless His Name.
We must decrease, He must increase!
Thank you for this moving sermon. I have been dealing so much with suffering right now, and it is amazing to hear that God accepts me, grants me grace, even as I struggle. Your words mean a lot, probably more than you will ever realize.
